It was a year of signature moments for Old Dominion: the football team’s stunning takedown of Virginia Tech, the men’s basketball team’s win at Syracuse, top 25 wins by the men’s and women’s tennis, field hockey, and wrestling teams and the men’s soccer team’s two-overtime draw vs. No. 1 North Carolina.
Seven of ODU’s 16 teams got in on the action. To athletic director Wood Selig, that’s an indication of the department’s strength across the board.
“If we’re going to field a program, we’re going to field a program with designs to be nationally competitive,” he said.
