Jim Parrack called his older sister Linda one Wednesday when they were both students at Oklahoma State back in the early 1980s.
He wanted to see if she wanted to catch a movie with him.
"No, I can't," she told him. "I've got a test."
"When's your test?" he asked, thinking it might be late enough the next day that he could convince her to go.
"Monday."
Parrack, now a retail real estate developer in Oklahoma City, laughed retelling the tale, and yet as funny as it was, it explained his sister perfectly.
"She's just ambitious and dedicated," he said.
