- Jan. 3 - The Oklahoma State University Alumni Association announced the dates for "America's Greatest Homecoming Celebration." The homecoming football game will be the Cowboys' match against the Baylor Bears on Oct. 14. Festivities will begin with the Cowboy Stampede Rodeo Oct. 5 and the dyeing of the Edmon Low Library fountain Oct. 8.
- Jan. 9 - Major OSU donor T. Boone Pickens announced he suffered a ministroke only days before Christmas. He is now back at work but is reducing his schedule for the next three months for rest.
