UNLV trashed Houston 27-7 in head coach Willie Fritz's first game as the Cougars' leading man.
Houston totaled 259 yards on offense, with only 50 on the ground. The Cougars couldn't find the end zone until one minute in the fourth quarter, courtesy of backup quarterback Ui Ale's 2-yard pass.

The Bearcats clawed down Towson in Cincinnati with a 38-20 victory.
