The Cowgirls got the bad news through a zoom call.
In their team meeting that was conducted virtually on Friday, coach Jim Littell informed his players that the season-opening game against Little Rock was canceled.
Both surprise and disappointment surfaced for the Cowgirls after the announcement.
Oklahoma State had its season halted on Nov. 16 due to positive COVID tests within the program but appeared to have the green light to play the season opener still nine days away.
“We thought just because we had a few girls in quarantine that we were still going to play,” sophomore guard Lauren Fields said.
