Underwood announced the signing of 5-foot 11 Brandon Averette from Richardson High School in Texas. Averette, a point guard, originally signed with Underwood at Stephen F. Austin in November and decided to keep his commitment to the coach when he was hired at OSU.
Averette was the No. 17 player in Texas, according to MaxPreps, after averaging 22.6 points per game on his way to being named District 10-6 Most Valuable Player for the second straight year.
“I’m elated that Brandon is going to be a Cowboy,” Underwood said. “He’s one of the hardest working young men I’ve ever been around, which has really helped him burst onto the scene, not just in Texas, but across the country.
