LEXINGTON — Tyler Brown was born just across the Canadian River, over in Purcell, which has I-35 and the commerce and the football tradition. The hospital, too, which explains Brown's place of birth.
But a few days later, Nancy Brown took her babe back to Lexington. And now Tyler Brown is all grown up. Six-foot-four, 300 pounds and making history.
Brown's hometown gathered in Lexington High School's commons area Wednesday to watch the boy mountain sign a football letter of intent with OSU. Lex's first Division I scholarship in anyone's memory.
“It's great for our town to be recognized for what he's been able to do,” said Lexington athletic director Brian Snow.
