ARLINGTON, Texas – The dam finally buckled.
OSU first baseman David Mendham sent a pitch from Baylor’s Jake Jackson into left field, ricocheting off the outfield wall and symbolically breaking open the floodgates that barricaded OSU’s offense a day ago.
Through 10 innings of postseason play, the Cowboys had zero runs and only three hits, none of which went for extra bases. But in the second inning of its 11-1 run-rule victory over the Bears on Thursday, OSU abandoned the memories of yesterday’s shutout loss and rediscovered its offensive groove.
“We scratched yesterday,” third baseman Roc Riggio said.
