Going into Thursday’s match with TCU, Oklahoma State soccer had its work cut out but couldn’t deliver in the end.
The Cowgirls suffered a 3-2 defeat to the Horned Frogs at Neal Patterson Stadium but were either a victory or a draw away from locking up the eighth and final position in the Big 12 tournament thanks to their strong start to the season before the game.
The Cowgirls could have maintained a record advantage against ninth-place Iowa State, the team that beat OSU 2-0 on Sunday and held a head-to-head tiebreaker advantage against the Cowgirls. But if ISU won and OSU lost, the Cowgirls would see their season end.
