Chris Carson led OSU in rushing last season with 517 yards. Raymond Taylor was next, with 297 yards. Perhaps it’s time to officially strip the Cowboys of the Tailback U. designation.
OSU has gone three straight seasons without a 1,000-yard rusher, which is no big deal a lot of places but is a huge deal in Stillwater, where the Cowboys of two generations have prided themselves on running the ball. Good teams, bad teams. Throwing teams, non-throwing teams. Didn’t matter. OSU has been able to run the ball.
More often than not, the Cowboys have had a star tailback.
