STILLWATER — As part of a new tradition to recognize the success of its past, the Oklahoma State football program has named Hall of Fame running back Thurman Thomas as the first inductee into the OSU Ring of Honor, the school announced Tuesday.
Thomas’ name and jersey No. 34 will be unveiled atop the west end zone of Boone Pickens Stadium at halftime of the Sept. 26 game against West Virginia, which is slated to kick off at 2:30 p.m.
Additionally, as a tribute to Thomas, OSU will wear white uniforms against West Virginia that are a replica of those worn in the 1987 Sun Bowl — Thomas’ last game as a Cowboy, which happened to be a 35-33 OSU victory over West Virginia.
