Oklahoma State will head to Memphis on New Years to face Missouri in the Liberty Bowl. While it’s the Cowboys’ first appearance in the bowl game, it’s not their first postseason appearance in the City of Blues.
Back in 1949, Oklahoma A&M took part in the second, and final, Delta Bowl against then No. 17 William & Mary. Led by head coach Jim Lookbaugh, the 6-4 Missouri Valley Champion Cowboys went into halftime tied 0-0 with the 7-2-2 Indians. However, two touchdown passes by Indian quarterback Tommy Korschcowski and a 70-yard interception return later, the Cowboys lost the match-up 20-0.
