Mike Gundy’s referencing Taylor Cornelius as “the guy” heading into August may have not exactly been ground-breaking, but it tells us a lot about where the fifth-year senior stands in Gundy’s eyes and in the highly-anticipated upcoming QB competition.
“When we came out of spring we felt very comfortable with Taylor, so certainly going into August he’s our guy,” Gundy expounded. “He’s been with us a number of years. He understands our offense. We’re confident in his abilities.”
Again, Gundy didn’t say much that should surprise us. Cornelius’ top two challengers for starter’s reps have yet to take part in any official team activity.
