Takeaways from OSU’s victory against Kansas: offense shatters records

Trevor Boone crushed the record-breaking home run to left field.

A home-run parade carried the Oklahoma State baseball team in its series-opening victory against Kansas. OSU demolished the Jayhawks 27-6 on Friday night at Hoglund Ballpark in Lawrence, Kansas.

The Cowboys piled up more runs than in any other Big 12 game, passing the mark of 23 they set against Kansas State on March 7, 1997. OSU hit 12 home runs to break the record it set Feb. 24, 1999, with 11 homers against Chicago State.

Colin Simpson, a senior catcher/outfielder, tied the home-run mark with his grand slam in the ninth inning.
