Syracuse Transfer Woody Newton Commits to Oklahoma State

Mike Boynton picked up a transfer who played in Boynton’s home state.

Syracuse transfer forward Woody Newton committed to Oklahoma State on Friday, becoming the Cowboys’ first commitment in the 2021 cycle.

A 6-foot-8, 200-pound power forward from Maryland, Newton played in 11 games for the Orange as a freshman this past season. He averaged 3.5 points and 1.8 rebounds a contest.

Although those numbers might not jump off the page, his per 40 numbers are more enticing, as he averaged just 7.9 minutes a game for Syracuse. Per 40 minutes, Newton averaged 17.
