BIXBY — Brendon Evers grew up watching Olympic style lifting on TV as a kid and eventually wandered into his own weight room to give it a try. By the time Evers was an eighth grader, his six-foot-plus frame was powerful with the instruction of certified trainers.
Back then, no one in his age group at Bixby had ever cleaned 225 pounds. Evers became the first.
“From that point forward, he just really continued to grow and take a liking to the weight room,” Bixby football coach Loren Montgomery said. “When you've got a kid who is naturally strong like that, you're always excited.
