TULSA — The sound of “Stayin’ Alive” blasted through the sound system at the BOK Center on Thursday afternoon.
The infamous Bee Gees hit song encapsulated the feel and general ambiance of the event transpiring within Tulsa’s notorious multi-purpose venue.
John Smith paralleled his coaching philosophy to the fervor of the infamous 1970s song flow through his body — even when it wasn’t playing — as he watched many of his wrestlers stay alive at the NCAA wrestling championships.
“It’s all about staying alive,” he said. “Can’t give up after one match, one loss.”
Dustin Plott, OSU’s 174-pounder finished 2-0 on the day, earning a spot in the quarterfinals for the second consecutive season.
