When Parker Scott stepped off the pitcher’s mound in the seventh inning, he didn’t realize he had thrown a career-high number of strikeouts.
Then Rob Walton, the Oklahoma State baseball team’s pitching coach, gave Scott a hint that it had happened.
“He just said, ‘You had a lot of punches,’” Scott said. “So I figured it was the most.”
Scott, a junior starter, kept BYU off the scoreboard as the Cowboys started the series with a 2-0 victory on Thursday at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
