As senior Vanessa Shippy talked to the media following her team's 11-1 run-rule victory against Pacific on Sunday, her teammates interrupted, screaming appreciation for their veteran leader.
"We love you Shippy," freshmen Chelsea Alexander and Emily Clark shouted.
Shippy, who is the leadoff hitter and third baseman for the Cowgirls, has been on a tear. At the OSU Hall of Fame Classic, Shippy went to the plate 18 times and failed to get on base only three times. Shippy had five hits, four RBIs, one home run and was walked 10 times.
Coach Kenny Gajewski, who has seen a handful of great players come through Florida where he was an assistant coach, said OSU is lucky to have a player of Shippy's caliber.
