When Kedon Slovis announced his move to BYU, most thought the Cougars had found their quarterback.
A grizzled veteran, Slovis had already been the starter at two schools, including taking the reins at USC as a freshman and playing his way into first-round NFL consideration after his first season.
A few years later, Slovis transferred to Pittsburgh after Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams headed to USC, with the Panthers tasked with replacing Heisman finalist Kenny Pickett.
That didn’t quite work out either, and finally, in his final year of college eligibility, Slovis took his talents to Provo and was expected to lead the Cougars into their first season as a member of the Big 12.
