This is the hardest parting thoughts for an Oklahoma State game this season.
There's been optimistic and pessimistic outlooks on OSU's season on Monday's editions of Slaughter's House, but I'm not sure if there's been one so outright confusing.
There were positives in the Cowboys' 38-35 road loss to No. 13 BYU. Redshirt sophomore Garret Rangel played well before exiting the game because of an injury; quarterback Alan Bowman played well in Rangel's relief; and the offensive line played its best game in weeks.
But with the positives came negatives: Rangel's "out for a while," according to head coach Mike Gundy, Bowman looked OK, but he was benched two of the three games before Friday night in Provo and the o-line's strong play (especially late) was overshadowed by the defense's blown coverages and poor tackling.
