Colin Simpson knew the ball was gone.
As he jogged down the base path toward first, he glanced at it for only a moment — his towering, third-inning solo shot that easily cleared the billboards in right field. He said he rarely, if ever, gives his home runs more consideration.
“It feels pretty good,” Simpson said. “There’s not much to say about it. I just try to simplify things and get a good pitch. He made a mistake and I put a swing on it.”
