Simpson, Cowboys dominant against West Virginia

OKLAHOMA CITY—His teammates call him Tank, but West Virginia calls him Homer Simpson.

Colin Simpson had a near-perfect day at the plate in the Oklahoma State baseball team’s 8-4 victory against West Virginia on Thursday in the second round Big 12 tournament at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark. Simpson, OSU’s catcher, went 4-for-5 with two home runs and a double.

“I would probably prefer Tank to Homer Simpson,” Simpson said. “(OSU pitching coach) Rob Walton actually gave me that name (Tank) in my freshmen fall. We walked in the indoor cages to just hit some batting practice in the cages, and Rob Walton looks at me and goes, ‘Ya know, you’re kinda built like a tank.
