Shippy named Big 12 Player of the Week

Vanessa Shippy was named Big 12 Player of the Week for the first week of the season, the conference announced Monday.

Shippy had an impressive week in her five starts at the Kajikawa Classic in Tempe, Arizona, during the weekend. Shippy, a utility player, went 11-of-13 from the plate, scoring nine runs, hitting two home runs and driving in six RBIs.

The No. 24 Oklahoma State softball team went 4-1 in the Kajikawa Classic, beating No. 7 Arizona 9-4 on Friday and tying the most runs in a game in program history during a 21-5 win against Western Michigan on Sunday.
