True freshman Shane Illingworth will make his first career start for No. 15 Oklahoma State Cowboys against West Virginia on Saturday at Boone Pickens Stadium in Stillwater.
Illingworth, a former four-star recruit from Norco, California, will be in for Spencer Sanders, who exited with a right ankle sprain during OSU’s 16-7 season-opening win last week against Tulsa. Sanders was in a walking boot earlier this week and participated in pregame warmups with a heavy amount tape on his right ankle. He’ll be available to play, if needed.
Sanders suffered the injury on the Cowboys’ opening drive last week when he went 2-for-2 for 23 yards before Alex Hale hit a 27-yard field goal to go up 3-0.
