Rodriguez, young secondary unit shine in victory

South Alabama rolled the dice and decided to go for it on fourth and one from its own 43-yard line during its first possession of the game against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

But Malcolm Rodriguez had other plans.

Evan Orth, the quarterback for South Alabama, took the snap and handed the ball to the running back Tra Minter, who attempted to run off-tackle to the right and gain a much-needed yard.

Rodriguez, a sophomore safety from Wagoner, Oklahoma, met Minter before he could reach the line of scrimmage, driving him into the ground and turning the ball over on downs.
