AUGUSTA, Ga. — A villain won the 2018 Masters, and Rickie Fowler found himself on the wrong side of that. Patrick Reed shot a 1-under 71 to take the 82nd playing of the most famous golf tournament in the world and upended Fowler by a stroke and Jordan Spieth (who shot a stunning 64 in the final round) by two.
Fowler, who trailed by five going into the final round, acquitted himself well, though, and made what was probably his best ever run at a major championship. A 65-67 showing on the weekend ran sideways against his sometimes-lackluster final 36 performances.
