Kevin Gum is an emotional man. He tells it up front.
When he talks about his old friends Kurt Budke and Miranda Serna, he has a hard time keeping a dry eye, but it’s OK with him because any time he thinks about them, it brings them back to life, even if it’s only a memory.
Gum has been the play-by-play announcer for Oklahoma State women’s basketball for 27 years, so memories are his specialty. There have been good ones, like when the Cowgirls bested Oklahoma in front of a standing-room-only crowd in Gallagher-Iba Arena, thanks to Andrea Riley’s 45-point outing.
