Playing without Forte, a senior guard who suffered a left elbow injury in OSU’s win Thursday, the Cowboys lost 71-68 to George Mason in overtime in the second round of the Gildan Charleston Classic. It was the first missed game of Forte’s career.
OSU (3-1) was also missing wings Tavarius Shine and Leyton Hammonds. The game headed to overtime after Joe Burton’s 3-pointer with 16.2 second left tied the score at 56. Burton scored a career-high 15.
Jeff Newberry had 20 points, while Chris Olivier scored a season-high 19 off the bench.
The Patriots (2-2) used their shooting abilities to down OSU.
