The Indianapolis Colts learned Saturday what Big 12 defensive coordinators long have known. Corralling Patrick Mahomes is not an easy task.
The Kansas City phenom completed 27 of 41 passes for 278 and no interceptions as the Chiefs beat the Colts 31-13 in the AFC semifinals at Arrowhead Stadium.
Mahomes seems to be the leading contender for the NFL’s most valuable player award. He sat behind Alex Smith last season as a rookie but has blossomed into a star in his second year with the Chiefs.
He’s also helping his old conference.
At Texas Tech, Mahomes regularly blew up not just the Oklahoma and Oklahoma State defenses, but the entire Big 12.
