It was the bottom of the fifth when Jessi Haffner blasted a two-run home run that struck the light pole in left field of Cowgirl Stadium.
Haffner’s home run proved the determining factor in Oklahoma State’s 5-3 victory Friday against Abilene Christian during the first day of play in the Mizuno Classic.
Haffner and the other players in the middle of the OSU (10-8) lineup had no trouble making contact, accounting for four of the team’s nine hits and only striking out twice as a unit.
“I just wanted to be on time for the pitch,” Haffner said.
