The sound of the crowd’s steady “Orange Power” chant swelled behind Andrew Navigato as he stood at bat with the bases loaded.
Navigato, a junior shortstop on the Oklahoma State baseball team and first-year transfer from Cuesta Community College, said he had never played with so many fans supporting him. With their unwavering encouragement, he experienced another first.
He hit a walk-off single to center field and secured a sweep of Texas on Saturday in Allie P. Reynolds Stadium. The Cowboys sneaked past the Longhorns 11-10 in the third game of the series.
“Actually, I’ve never hit a walk-off before in my life, so it’s a good feeling right now,” Navigato said.
