Outfielders Ehrhard, Benge reasons for optimism in OSU's loss to WVU

Oklahoma State outfielders Zach Ehrhard and Carson Benge combined for four of the Cowboys seven hits against West Virginia.

It wasn’t enough.

WVU had 11 hits to push the Mountaineers past the Cowboys, 6-3. The Cowboys had three innings in which only three batters stepped to the plate. Cowboy coach Josh Holliday said those innings gave WVU an advantage.

“It lets your pitcher get out of the inning with less pitches,” Holliday said. “So, that extends his life in terms of pitch count. It also lets him breathe a little bit and it puts your pitcher back on the mound quicker than you would like because now he didn’t have the time in between.
