NEW YORK — Apologies to the Heisman ceremony, but the most prestigious — or at least tastiest — award in college football was given out in New York on Friday night.
The Piesman Trophy, described as an award given to a lineman for doing unlineman-like things, held its second annual ceremony in a downstairs event space at SoHo's Roxy Hotel, about a 20-minute subway ride away from where the Downtown Athletic Club will hand the bronze trophy to one of five skill players on Saturday night.
Friday night, however, was all about the so-called unskilled guys — the big dudes usually responsible for roughing up other big dudes so the flashy guys can make the highlight plays.
