Oklahoma State punter Matt Hockett came up a couple yards short of a first down on a fake punt attempt in the middle of the fourth quarter when OSU had the ball on its own side of midfield while holding onto a 35-33 lead.
The turnover on downs could’ve been critical, but the OSU defense forced a field goal, which was blocked by Mike Scott to preserve the lead.
“We had a good call,” OSU coach Mike Gundy said of the fake punt. “Hockett actually thought the guy was gonna run him down from the backside, so he stayed outside.
