Gabe Davis began the transition to becoming a starter in Oklahoma State's pitching rotation for the 2025 season in Friday's season opener against Clemson.
The right-handed junior struck out the first batter before walking first baseman Luke Gaffney and then earning another strikeout to end the first inning.
Things looked shaky in the second when Davis hit left fielder Dominic Listi with a pitch and walked third baseman Josh Paino with no outs. Two batters later, Davis gave up his first hit to shortstop Andrew Ciufo on a single.
OSU was sure to have clinched a double play to end the second inning, but catcher Ian Daugherty's foot missed home plate as he caught the ball at home before throwing it to first.
