During his Wednesday press conference, John Smith referred to Bucknell as a “top-25 team.”
Really? Bucknell?
However, the more the Oklahoma State coach explained his reasoning, the more sense it made.
In their season opener against the Bison, Cowboy wrestlers defeated five ranked wrestlers. Three of those wins came in the form of a bonus-point victory. And if Smith’s breakdown of his team’s opponent is precise, a 38-6 is impressive.
But as Smith noted: “Bucknell isn’t our best opponent.”
There was a lot of good, mixed with some anticipated growing pains from OSU’s season-opening win.
