Oklahoma State sophomore Daton Fix earned a spot in the championship match of the 57 kilogram bracket in the men’s freestyle portion of the 2019 Pan American Games on Friday in Lima, Peru.
Fix won both his bouts Friday to advance to the gold-medal match.
Fix began his day with a 10-0 technical fall over Brazil's Daniel Alves Do Nascimento in 1:15 seconds of the quarterfinal match.
In the semifinals, Fix took a 4-1 decision over Reineri Andreu Ortega of Cuba, who was the 2017 U23 World champion and 2018 Pan Am champion.
In the finals, Fix will face Juan Ramirez Beltre of Dominican Republic, who won the 2011 Pan American Games.
