STILLWATER — If being an All-American was all Preston Weigel wanted, he would’ve hung up his singlet by now.
But life on the sidelines didn’t suit him.
Oklahoma State’s senior 197-pound wrestler was an All-American as a sophomore, and has ridden an injury roller-coaster going all the way back to the end of last season.
Yet he looked nothing short of full heath last week when he defeated Iowa’s fourth-ranked Jacob Warner in the match that sealed OSU’s thrilling 27-12 win over the Hawkeyes.
Halfway through a two-week break between the Iowa dual and the Big 12 championships next weekend in Tulsa, Weigel is getting some extra time to make sure he’s healed up for the postseason.
