Shawnee star guard Lauren Fields is staying a lot closer to home than originally planned.
Fields announced late Tuesday that she will play next season at Oklahoma State instead of California, where she originally signed.
Cal head coach Lindsay Gottlieb was instrumental in Fields choosing to head west, but Gottlieb was recently hired as an assistant with the Cleveland Cavaliers. That opened the door for Fields to make a change with her future.
“There were a lot of changes that I just didn’t feel good about going so far away from home,” Fields told The Oklahoman in a text message.
