OSU sports: Every team to honor Boone Pickens with patch

STILLWATER - Every Oklahoma State team will honor T. Boone Pickens throughout the school year.

The university announced that each team will wear a sticker or patch on its jersey in the late oil tycoon’s honor. His last name will be in capitalized orange letters on a black patch or sticker.

The football team wore a “BOONE” sticker on their helmets two weeks ago against Tulsa. OSU’s women’s soccer team followed with the patch that will be seen on each uniform.

Pickens died on Sept. 11. He was 91.

He donated more than $652 million to the university, split among athletics and academics.
