Oklahoma State pitcher/hitter/superstar Samantha Show put her team on her back and carried them to a 2-1 victory over Florida in the first round of the Women’s College World Series Thursday night at USA Softball Hall of Fame Stadium.
Show hit two solo home runs — the Cowgirls’ only two hits — and allowed one run on six hits, throwing a complete game for the win.
As has become a customary coincidence in big postseason victories, OSU’s final out was made on a ground out to second baseman Madi Sue Montgomery. She caught a fly ball to end the regional championship, fielded a grounder in the super-regional upset of Florida State, and finished off Thursday’s win.
