The “vibe” one day before Oklahoma State’s exhibition match against Tulsa on Aug. 9 was a topic of discussion from head coach Colin Carmichael.
A year ago, uncertainty lingered around the program. A multitude of key pieces from OSU’s 2022 team, including standout forward Grace Yochum, the program’s all-time leading goal scorer, and defender Ally Jackson, were gone. A handful of freshmen and transfers were in.
“We just need time to have all these (newcomers) gel,” Carmichael said in August 2023.
On Thursday, however, Carmichael cited a stark contrast heading into the 2024 season. From the Cowgirls’ nine returning starters to their overall depth, many within the program have stated their belief in the club’s upside this season – a conference championship, an NCAA Tournament berth or potentially even better.
