T. Boone Pickens, legendary oil tycoon and Oklahoma State booster, died at his residence in the Vendome in Texas after suffering from poor health during the past few years. He was 91. The Dallas Morning News first reported his death, and the O'Colly confirmed it.
Pickens is the largest booster to contribute to Oklahoma State, giving more than $1 billion during his lifetime, most of the money going toward OSU athletics, including a project for the expansion of what is now known as Boone Pickens Stadium.
Pickens also donated to the School of Geology, which is named after him.
