East Tennessee State coach Jason Shay resigned last month after just one season at the helm of the program, leading one of the team’s best young talents — freshman Damari Monsanto — to test the transfer portal. Now the Pokes could be in a position to benefit from instability at ETSU.
The 6-foot-6 guard announced over the weekend that OSU is in his final six schools as he narrows his search for a new home. Also included are Arkansas, Butler, Wake Forest, Iowa State and Virginia.
I would consider Wake Forest to be one of the favorites here because its coach, Steve Forbes, originally recruited Monsanto to ETSU before taking the Demon Deacons job last year.
