OSU’s basketball teams are giving a nod to the state’s Native American heritage with special uniforms, the first to be debuted Friday at the Cowboys’ season opener.
The school has partnered with Nike on the project, which will feature turquoise Nike N7 uniforms in celebration of Native American Heritage Month.
The Cowboys will wear their uniforms Friday against Tennessee-Martin. The Cowgirls will wear theirs on Nov. 20, when they host Southern Illinois Edwardsville.
The color turquoise represents harmony, friendship and fellowship in the Native American culture. Along with OSU, eight other schools are participating in the initiative to highlight Native American Heritage Month.
