OSU football: Why Mason Rudolph has quietly used his position on the field to affect people off of it

There is a moment, after almost every Oklahoma State touchdown, when Mason Rudolph points toward the heavens.

It's something the quarterback has done for years, a reflection of his faith, an acknowledgment of his God.

But this past season, it was also a reminder of his buddy, Gavin King.

You have seen Gavin. He was the boy in that memorable picture captured after a game two seasons ago. He was cradled in Rudolph's arms as the Cowboys sang the alma mater. He was wearing a Spider-Man sweatshirt and Lightning McQueen shoes. He was pale and thin and bald.
