OSU football: Variety spices Cowboys' future road schedule

CORVALLIS, Oregon — Oklahoma State deputy athletic director Chad Weiberg has to juggle a lot of interests as he’s searching for nonconference opponents for the Cowboys, particularly when it comes to the major opponent — a Power 5 conference member, with the exception of Boise State in a couple years.

Weiberg has to weigh the impact of competitiveness, interest and travel for fans, financial benefit and cost for the program, and other factors.

His predecessor, Dave Martin, had some of the future major matchups, like Friday’s game at Oregon State, on the docket when Weiberg took over, but Weiberg has juggled all the interests well to secure interesting, unique and meaningful games that could provide fun trips for fans interested in traveling.
