STILLWATER – Grumbles kicked up inside Boone Pickens Stadium after Mason Rudolph took a knee shortly after Oklahoma State took possession with 1:48 remaining in their 38-31 win over Iowa State.
It was the first of three kneel-downs for Rudolph, as the Cowboys startled whittling clock.
And mathematicians in the crowd were clearly at work, calculating a troubling issue: even though Iowa State held only one timeout, it became clear that the Cowboys couldn’t fully run out the clock.
So the Cyclones would get the ball back, conjuring not-too-distant memories of the Central Michigan end game that went awry.
