Possession control will be crucial
We might be able to count the number of possessions on one hand in Oklahoma State's matchup with Kansas State on Saturday.
The Cowboys have explosive running back Chuba Hubbard and young star quarterback Spencer Sanders, and they like to run the football. The Wildcats have stuck to their roots of powering and enforcing the line of scrimmage despite an offseason coaching regime change, and they too like to run the football.
Obviously, OSU has the capability and weaponry to throw the ball successfully and create a more balanced offensive attack than the Wildcats can showcase, but if K-State throws defensive looks similar to what Texas did against the Pokes, where double coverage over the top of All-American receiver Tylan Wallace reduces his effectiveness, we will likely see OSU favor a run-heavy scheme once again, per OSU coach Mike Gundy.
